Special M8 & M12 Receptacles for CANBUS System

A 5-pole connector system that could provide the necessary connections for a shielded CANBUS system for a marine environment was required for this project. In this environment, the connectors had to be both waterproof and robust for this challenging application.

Custom through panel M8 5-pole male and female receptacles were developed and built with a wire to board header ready to install on their PCB assembly.

To interface their system to the boat, an M12 receptacle with moulded rear was used to provide a sealed solution that could be fixed to the framework. This also used a through panel design for ease of assembly and commissioning.

For areas where there was constant flexing, a number of coiled cable assemblies were used to deal with this requirement. These were built with both M8 and M12 5-pole connectors to match the complete system. The complete connectivity solution we developed was assembled and moulded in-house providing our customer with a single source for all of their requirements.
